GREENSURGE project meeting in Wageningen

FNP researchers have hosted a project meeting of the GREENSURGE consortium in Wageningen. For two days, an international group of around 30 researchers has intensively collaborated in preparing the final phases of the project which ends in 2017. This project meeting was closed with a seminar on environmental justice with invited speakers and a panel discussion.

GREEN SURGE is a EU-funded project that explores the possibilities for better integrating green spaces into cities. In several work-packages, the GREENSURGE consortium looks at relevant themes such as governance, green economy, planning and biocultural diversity. FNP researchers Arjen Buijs, Birgit Elands and Thomas Mattijssen are active in the GREENSURGE consortium on behalf of FNP.

On December 13 and 14 of 2016, a large group of GREENSURGE-researchers met in Wageningen to discuss their work and the steps that need to be taken towards the final reports that will be produced in 2017. A highlight of this meeting was the open seminar on December 14th: invited speakers Dagmar Haase, Bas Breman, Erik Andersson and Wim de Haas gave four very interesting presentations and received enthusiastic reactions from the audience. The final conference of the GREENSURGE project entitled 'Urban Green Infrastructure - Connecting People and Nature for Sustainable Cities.' Sweden on 20-22 September 2017.
