Wageningen UR research is conducted by highly qualified research institutes and chair groups of Wageningen University. The collaboration between institutes and departments has led to the develop-ment of various research centers. These centers aim to improve both the exchange of knowledge between scientists and the efficient use of the research facilities.

Examples of international research programmes:
  • The Policy Support Cluster International (BOCI)) is a research programme aimed at decreasing poverty and supporting durable development, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I). Each year dozens of new projects are carried out.

  • INREF is the Interdisciplinary Research and Education Fund of Wageningen University focusing on developing countries. A group of international PhD students collaborate in a research programme. Started in the year 2000 INREF is now in its third phase.

  • EU organizes its research within so called Framework Programmes. These programmes supports European research projects and is carried out by a European consortium. The actual programme is the Seventh Framework Programme (2007-2013). In its domain, healthy food and living environment, Wageningen UR is very successful in FP7.
