Wageningen UR actively participates in the Seventh Framework Programme (2007-2013) of the EU. This programme supports European research projects and is carried out by a European consortium.

Wageningen UR was involved in the 268 projects of the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme (2002-2006). Wageningen UR was the coordinator of 55 cases which included 11 large projects. Wageningen UR participated in all the thematic priorities. A breakdown of the 11 large projects provides an overview of the thematic priorities at Wageningen UR:

  • 7 projects in theme 5, ‘Food quality and safety’;
  • 3 projects in ‘Sustainable development, global change and ecosystem’ theme;
  • 1 project in ‘Life sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health’ theme.

There are ten thematic priorities in the Seventh Framework Programme. Wageningen UR is one of the largest players in the ‘Food, agriculture and fisheries and biotechnology’ theme and in the ‘Environment’ theme.
