The International Agricultural Centre, the training centre of
the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and
Fisheries, organises annually a training programme on rural
extension (ICRE: International Course on Rural Extension).
The Dutch advisory service DLV was transformed from a
public rural extension institution into a market-oriented
agricultural advisory company, operating in The
Netherlands as well as abroad. Based on this expertise
and those of other organizations in the Dutch agricultural
sector and their experience throughout Europe, a new
training programme has been developed, focussing on the
conditions and needs of extension/advisory services in
Central and Eastern Europe. The programme aims at giving
insight into ways of using extension, training and advisory
services as effective instruments to facilitate agricultural
development and production.
