Recent developments in high tech precision agriculture will be demonstrated on the 15th of June during an international field robot contest in Wageningen. At the Field Robot Event teams from universities, research institutes and companies will compete for the fifth time to find out who built the smartest robot. Teams from Japan, Malaysia, Finland and Germany will take part. Student teams and teams of high school students will show that the most expensive robots aren’t always the best performers.
The traditional element of the contest is to navigate autonomously through crop rows. Gaps in de rows make this task extra difficult for the robots. A new task this year is to detect weeds (in the shape of yellow golf balls). When the robot has detected the weed, it has to take a weed-killing action. This promises to be an interesting sight! At last each team can show their creative ideas about robotics in a freestyle session.
During the Event there will be a demonstration of other agricultural robots.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Field Robot Event. Admission is free. Information and exact location at www.fieldrobot.com.
