6 April - 1 May 2009.
Various international conventions have addressed the topic of genetic erosion and the declining use of agro biodiversity in modern agriculture. Concern about the future vulnerability of agricultural production, food security and environmental stability has moved the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources to the top of the international development agenda. The overall objective of the training programme is to enhance participants’ capabilities to deal with contemporary issues in genetic resource management. Relevant policies, participatory and market-oriented approaches receive special attention.
