Unit:
Food and Biobased Research
Location:
Forum and Restaurant of the Future, Wageningen Campus
A transnational strategy for global sustainable food management.
This transnational event will harmoniously combine a formal session, with i.e. an exclusive lecture from key note speaker Professor of Food Policy Tim Lang, from City University of London, and a site visit of the consumer research and field laboratory
Restaurant of the Future
. A networking session will be followed by a reception.
Food wastage is emerging as a still-to-be-concretized political priority in North-Western Europe
It is a challenging problem, directly linked with the question of waste, consumption and climate change. A quarter of the food produced in the world each year ends up in the dustbin, without having been consumed! Food wastage, as a reflection of our overconsumption society, also reinforces social inequalities and is ethically unacceptable.
GreenCook is aimed at reducing food wastage at home and out of home (at the restaurant, at the canteen, in the supermarket) and to make the North-Western Europe a model of sustainable food management by in-depth work on the consumer / food relationship. Therefore the project can rely on a multisectoral partnership gathering around 4 communities of practice a pathbreaking combination of partners from Belgium, Holland, Germany and France, each with a unique, targeted expertise and legitimacy, and directly usable know-how. GreenCook will end in 2013.
The event is open to all (5O euros/participant including lunch, coffee breaks, reception and work documents), but registration is required
