Because of the scale, competing claims and complex contaminant sources of marine ecosystems, fundamentally different issues are studied and approaches applied in marine ecotoxicological research and risk assessment. The aim of this course is to familiarize participants with the main ecotoxicological issues relevant in marine ecosystems, sources of marine pollution, marine environmental chemistry, effects of POPs in marine food chains, multi-stress, sources and effects of oil pollution at sea, test methods for marine ecotoxicological research and marine environmental policy.
