On the 1st of September, ENP welcomed our new Associate Professor in Research Methodology, Hilde Tobi. Hilde did her MSc in educational technology with specialization in educational measurement and data-analysis, and continued her stay at the University of Twente with a research assistantship in psychometrics. Thanks to a Fulbright Grant she was able to spend one year at the University of South Carolina. There, she studied biostatistics and epidemiology (the research methodology of medical sciences) and worked as a researcher for the South Carolina State Department of Education. In 1993, Hilde took a position as methodology and statistics consultant at the department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the Vrije University in Amsterdam. She did her thesis on methodology and statistical issues in clinical restorative dental research. In 2000, Hilde became assistant professor in the department Social Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Groningen. Her research focused on “research methodology” and “children and medicines, in particular psychotropic medication”. She has (co-) authored papers in a diversity of journals and has taught research methodology, epidemiology and statistics courses for Bachelors to PhD students in several disciplines. Although she arrived just a few weeks ago, she already starts to feel at home here at the Leeuwenborch. The next few months she hopes to get better acquainted with the organization and many of you!
