"The future of uncertainty analysis in complex environmental models"
Date and time: 7 November 2007 at Wageningen University (Atlas building), 13-17.00;
It is nowadays commonly agreed that uncertainty analysis in complex environmental models is much more than quantifying parameter variability. Instead, what is needed are approaches that allow for efficient and effective analysis of uncertainties, particularly in cases where models are used as decision-making tools. Although a broad range of innovative approaches to uncertainty analysis has been developed throughout recent years, we observe that scientists often remain within their "disciplinary view" on uncertainty analysis. Therefore, our objective is to stimulate the interdisciplinary discussion about uncertainty analysis approaches and tools in complex environmental models and to give opportunity for an exchange of innovative ideas on uncertainty analysis across environmental disciplines (such as climate change, air pollution, water management, biotechnology, ecotoxicology).
