Unit:
Animal Sciences Group
One of the important trends in the livestock sector concerns its internationalisation and the corresponding expertise network. The rapidly growing market in China needs expertise to improve production efficiency and quality. On 1 September 2008 the Animal Sciences Group of Wageningen UR will therefore expand its position in China by stationing Dr. ir. J. (Ina) Enting there as its local contact person.
China is twice the size of Europe and has three times as many people. It is a country with more and more people to feed, people who are increasingly accustomed to eating more animal products with a higher quality. The animal production sector must therefore take a number of major steps forward. One of these steps requires expertise to improve production efficiency and quality. By positioning itself in China, the Animal Sciences Group has increased the value of its services; high-quality Dutch expertise for the production and processing of and meat and milk can now be offered locally. The official agreements between Wageningen UR and various Chinese research institutions make it easier for the Animal Sciences Group to work together with its Chinese counterparts while providing this expertise. In addition, by having local representation in China, the Animal Sciences Group has the advantage of being able to offer on-site project management.
Ina Enting will establish a network in China for the Animal Sciences Group, make contacts and partly implement projects locally. She will be based in the Wageningen UR office that is located in Beijing, the capital city of China.
