Exchange and generation of knowledge for sustainable agricultural development is undergoing many changes. New issues emerge, e.g. on how to cope with globalisation, with certification for Good Agricultural Practices, transition to organic farming, control of transboundary diseases, and so on. Therefore, also the organisation of R&D needs to continuously adapt and the stakeholders have to establish new skills, roles and positions.
The topic of mixed farming is especially suited for a discussion on these changing roles and it is relevant for tropical and temperate countries.
This seminar, held 13 November 2006, was meant for a mixed audience of professionals from private and public organisations, consultants, policy makers, educators and students.
