Specialisation Food Innovation and Management

Full of ideas and aspiring to start your own company? For students with these aspirations, the Food Innovation and Management specialization is a good choice. In addition, this specialization is suitable for students who wish to work on product development in small or medium enterprises. The curriculum is a 50-50 mixture of food technology and management. In their second year all students work on their thesis at the Chair Group of Management Studies. Their internship has to be done in a company or research institute in the field of food technology.

First year

  • Compulsory courses (CS) : compulsory for all students in this specialisation
  • Restricted Optionals (RO1) : students have to choose at least one of the courses from the RO1 cluster
  • Restricted Optionals (RO2) : students have to choose at least four courses from the RO2 cluster

Second year

This year consists of a thesis in Management Studies (minimum 36 ECTS) and an internship at one of the five Food Science departments (min. 24 ECTS). The topics of the thesis and internship should be within the scope of the specialisation and is relevant to Food Technology. A thesis is normally carried out at Wageningen University. The internship is always outside Wageningen University and can be in any country, at a university, an industry or an institute. The internship is not related to the thesis, but is under supervision of one of the following groups.
