Economics of Consumers and Households

The group of economics of consumers and households combines insights from behavioural economics and economic psychology in the area of consumer and household decision making, health and well-being. We focus on behaviour regarding food, the environment and financial management. The research program is clustered around five themes: Consumer Food Choice; Finance; Environment; Welfare, Health and Well-being and Interdependent Decision Making.

Our Research

The standard approach in economic research is the development of a model in which the actors react to stimuli, i.e., prices, expected utility of certain actions, etc., aimed at reaching particular goals. In this approach, behaviour of consumers, households and other actors is explained on the basis of a trade-off between (perceptions of) costs and benefits.
