ENP welcomes new post-doc researcher Patience Mguni

Patience Mguni started as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Environmental Policy Group on January 2017. Patience will working on Resilience and Vulnerability at the Urban Nexus of food, water, energy and environment. The focus of the project is an access to infrastructure and resources flows by the urban poor in East Africa, Brazil and Eastern Europe. It is a joined project together with the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and Sussex (SPRU). She will conduct the fieldwork in Kampala, Uganda. 

Patience has a BSc in Rural and Urban Planning from the University of Zimbabwe, an MSc in Planning and the Environment from Aalborg University in Denmark and a PhD in Landscape Architecture and Planning from the University of Copenhagen.. Before joining ENP, Patience pursued a PhD study exploring the potential for implementing more sustainable urban water management in Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa and Johannesburg. She has worked as site manager in construction projects in Botswana, as a Research Assistant at Reykjavik University in Iceland and at the University of Copenhagen.

Along with her current work on the urban nexus of food, energy, water and environment, her other research interests include sustainable urban development, water management systems and practices as well as the possible contributions that Indigenous Knowledge Systems may have for informing more responsive urban management policies in developing cities.
