On 19 September, the chair group Human and Animal Physiology (HAP) from Wageningen University & Research celebrates the opening of the new human physiology laboratory. The official opening is preceded by a symposium and mini-demonstrations.

The chair group has a long tradition of research into metabolism of humans and the new facility features new and renewed equipment to assess energy metabolism in humans, in a non-invasive matter.

More in-dept research

Also, the chair group’s current location (Zodiac) facilitates more in-depth mechanistical research due to close proximity the molecular physiology laboratory in the same building. This cooperation will come to full use of this in the research, for example in studies to better understand how aging affects muscle mitochondrial functioning, where physiological, cellular and molecular approaches are used in parallel to obtain answers.

Symposium and mini-demonstrations

The official opening is preceded by the symposium: “Challenging energy metabolism, from cell to human”, where the human and animal physiology research will be highlighted. The symposium will start at 15:00 h in the Zodiac building, room A0107 and will be followed by mini-demonstrations in the new laboratory. You are welcome to join the seminar. Please send an email to register for the symposium to office.hap@wur.nl before September 14st.
