The Horizon Europe project LOESS: ‘Literacy boost through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Societal actors on Soil health’ officially started in July 2023.

Under the EU Mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’, twenty partner organizations will join efforts during three years to map, co-create, and test relational pedagogies and tools in fifteen countries across Europe, with a focus on enhancing education for soil awareness.

From WUR, Education and Learning Sciences Group, Divya Pandey (post-doc researcher), Camilla Ramezzano (researcher) and Valentina Tassone (assistant professor) will be actively involved as projects tasks leaders and partners.

On 12th and 13th of July in Bonn, Germany, representatives from LOESS’ twenty partner organisations met to align their visions on how to raise awareness on soil health and to have a dialogue about project needs and next steps. It was unanimously emphasised that for making a significant impact on soil awareness across Europe the engagement of all relevant actors is needed. LOESS’ transdisciplinary Communities of Practice (CoPs) therefore will be at the heart of all upcoming tasks and activities. The first meetings of CoPs in each country will be organised in September.

LOESS is a three-year project. It runs between 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2026. The project is funded under Horizon Europe (Contract No. 101112707) and will involve twenty institutions under the coordination of WILA Bonn:
