Tarek Alskaif and Önder Babur from the Information Technology group, Wageningen University & Research, among other international researchers from academia and industry, were interviewed by Connected World magazine (interviewer BethanieHestermann) on how digital twins and other ICT can make our electricity grids work smarter. Digital twins is an emerging technology which can bridge the physical and virtual worlds, which matters a lot for the increasing complexity of smart electricity grids. Digital twins could help understand and predict the dynamic behaviour of energy grids, even in future scenarios which cannot be tested on the real grid. In an ultimate digital twin setting, the virtual world has an accurate representation of the physical world, gets updated in realtime and can potentially act autonomously.
