The excellent relationship between Wageningen UR (University & Research centre) and the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) was strengthened with the signing of a formal cooperation agreement between the two organizations on Thursday, October 27. Cooperation shall include the development of joint master and postgraduate courses and research in areas such as Plant & Animal Genomics, Horticulture, Food technology, Nutrition & Health, Food safety, Water management, Soil quality and Biodiversity.

The agreement was signed in California by the Chancellor of UC Davis, Linda Katehi, and by Aalt Dijkhuizen, President and Chairman of the Executive Board of Wageningen UR. Both UC Davis and Wageningen UR are world leaders in the field of agro and food research. Both institutes are already working together within the Global Alliance for Food Security Research, a global alliance launched earlier this year consisting of leading research institutions from the USA, the Netherlands, Brazil, China, France and New Zealand.
