Communicatieadviseur

My passion for soil and communications is underlaid an M.A. in journalism and an M.S. in geography from University of Wisconsin – Madison, USA as well as a B.S. in Agronomy from Iowa State University, USA. I am experienced in combining community outreach with sustainable soil management information. I was an urban agriculture educator with Purdue University Cooperative Extension in the United States for five years. Following that, I was selected to be a 2018-2019 Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellow. During that year supported by the National Geographic Society and the U.S. State Department, I lived in Ireland while researching and producing stories about peat soil’s cultural and carbon significance for Irish people. The stories were featured in publications such as Science Magazine and the New York Times. I also gained experience in brand communications while working as a digital content creator for Trek Bicycle. I joined ISRIC - World Soil Information in 2020 as a specialist in transforming research-based soil information with communication strategy and compelling storytelling techniques.
