I am a PhD candidate in the project 'Talk in Action: Towards a Constructive Dialogue between Stakeholders on Livestock-related Zoonoses'. In this project, we focus on the current debate in the Netherlands concerning the effects of intensive farming on human health. My part of the project deals with the real-life interactions between stakeholders, using an interaction-analytic approach. Another project, executed by another PhD at the VUmc, deals with stakeholders' mental models about the risks related to intensive farming and zoonoses in particular. By focusing on stakeholders' mental models as well as how these models are put to use in real-life conversations, we uncover social-moral concerns that usually remain implicit and are therefore hard to manage. We will develop an innovative dialogue tool for professionals in the field of risk communication for communicating on zoonoses and other health-related risks regarding intensive farming.

This project has a duration of four years and is in collaboration with the GGD (Public Health Service) and the RIVM (The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). In this project I am supervised by Professor Hedwig te Molder (WUR) and Professor Danielle Timmermans (VUmc and RIVM).
