Marie Zwetsloot is a postdoctoral researcher in the Soil Biology Group at Wageningen University. She completed her research MSc in soil science and PhD program in rhizosphere ecology at Cornell University in the United States. She has worked in natural and managed ecosystems studying plant-soil interactions in the context of sustainable agriculture and climate change. Among others, she investigated how phenolic root exudates influence microbial organic matter dynamics and how plant roots in single-species versus mixed-species forests respond to drought across space and time. She currently also works on the role of soil biology in supporting soil multi-functionality.
