Great Dutch Student Championship

During the 'Groot Nederlands Studentenkampioenschap' (GNSK), university teams compete for the title "best student team in the Netherlands". They do so for the regular sports basketball, badminton, handball, fencing, squash, tennis, football and volleyball. There are also sports that change every year. This year these are Beach volleyball, eSports, Powerlifting, Table tennis, Gymnastics, Cycling

With about 1,300 athletes, 100 coaches and volunteers, it is one of the largest student sports events in the Netherlands. In 2023, Wageningen will host the 63rd edition of this event. The winners of certain sports are even allowed to participate in European competitions in 2024; for example, two Wageningen University football teams that won last year will go to European University Games in Tirana (Albania) this year. In addition to a winner per sport, overall scores will be compiled to allow one university to win the overall GNSK.

The various sports will compete for the title 'Dutch Student Champion'. There will also be an overall ranking per city. The winning city may call itself 'Best Student Sports City of the Netherlands' for a year. It is an annual prestige battle which city can send off the best athletes.

In addition to the sports and will take place on Friday 9 June, there will be a spectacular opening, festively opening the GNSK. To conclude, a big party for all athletes and volunteers will take place on Saturday 10 June at student association Ceres.

The GNSK consists of a number of annually recurring sports, supplemented by changing choice sports.
