Dr. Christina Gillies is a nutritional anthropologist with an interest in understanding food, nutrition, and health within different cultures and contexts. She uses qualitative and mixed research methods and a socioecological approach to understand the complex interplay of factors influencing eating behaviours.She is also committed to using participatory approaches to research and health promotion by collaborating with community members to develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition interventions.
Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher for an inter-disciplinary research project funded by the Edema-Steernberg Foundation. Her research focuses on exploring and understanding the goals, values, and beliefs of nutrition professionals working with low socioeconomic status populations. She is also coordinator of the Nutrition Disparity Network , which aims to promote healthy dietary patterns among disadvantaged population groups through interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborative research.
