In northern India, for water availability people are dependent on monsoon rains and melting snow and ice in the Himalayas.
The expectation is that as a result of climate change the Himalayan glaciers will withdraw and the monsoon rainfall and patterns will change. There is still much uncertainty about where these processes exactly occur and over what period.
The aim of the project HighNooN is to identify changes in the spatial and temporal distribution of water in northern India. The second goal is to use this information to develop robust adaptation strategies with active participation of stakeholders operating at different decision levels.
