Together with European partners the Laboratory of Virology is working on a vaccine against COVID-19. Work on 2 candidate vaccines has been carried out in both Wageningen and Denmark. The Danish vaccine will be tested on humans on a small scale in the coming months. Because it is not yet certain whether the vaccine provides sufficient protection or has strong side effects, work is also continuing on the Wageningen vaccine. This vaccine is also ready, and is now being tested on mice. WUR hopes to publish the results of the mouse test at the end of this year. Resource, the independent website and magazine for students and employees of WUR, interviewed virologist Gorben Pijlman about the latest state of affairs.
