    The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded seven experienced Wageningen researchers a Vidi grant worth 800,000 euros. The grant enables them to develop their own innovative line of research and set up their own research group in the coming five years. Never before so many Vidi grants have landed in Wageningen.

    Wageningen University & Research once again top of the table for full-time Master’s degree programmes
    Master’s programmes at Wageningen University & Research have once again earned the highest scores of all thirteen research universities in the Netherlands. Wageningen University & Research, which specialises in green and technical programmes, scored higher than all other universities offering full-time programmes, according to the latest edition of the Keuzegids Masters 2017 (‘Higher Education Guide to Master’s Degree Programmes 2017’), published today. The Keuzegids awarded the ‘top degree programme’ predicate to 23 of the 27 Master’s programmes taught at Wageningen University & Research.

    Wageningen University & Research has once again been ranked the best university by the Dutch university information guide Keuzegids. Nearly all of Wageningen's Bachelor’s programmes received the 'Top Programme' designation, with a score of 76 or higher. Of particular note is the explicit mention of Wageningen's combination of outstanding education and excellent research.

    Wageningen tops the tables in Elsevier Beste studies 2016
    “Wageningen University is the best university in the Netherlands,” is the first sentence in Elsevier’s report of student evaluations. None of the nineteen Bachelor’s degree programmes at Wageningen UR scored below par in the Beste studies survey. The National Student Survey, conducted by Studiekeuze123, is the main pillar used for the rankings, which will be published on 29 September.

    Three Vidi-grants for Wageningen scientists
    Wageningen scientists Marleen Kamperman, Bert de Rybel and Joop Vermeer (alumnus of Wageningen University as well) will each receive a Vidi grant, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research announced on Monday. Vidi grants are awarded to researchers who have successfully carried out several years of research after they completed their PhD. The grant amounts to a maximum of 800,000 euros. It will allow them to conduct research into the topic they submitted.

    Wageningen researcher secures Vici grant for research into nitrogen symbiosis
    Wageningen plant researcher René Geurts has been awarded a Vici grant by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). He will use the grant, which is worth € 1.5 million, for research into the origins of the cooperation between plants and bacteria that are able to fixate nitrogen from the atmosphere. René Geurts works at the Laboratory for Molecular Biology of Wageningen University.
