
Emergency fund for students – applicant information
Are you a current student at Wageningen University and are you in financial trouble as a result of the corona crisis? Then you might be eligible for support by the emergency fund for students. Please read the information below about the criteria and the procedure carefully.
The fund will be able to support around 20 to 30 students. Where applicable we will refer to other sources of support.
Please note that we will not answer e-mails from individuals who are clearly not eligible, in order to use our time and energy to support relevant applications.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be:
- Bachelor or Master students enrolled in one of the study programmes at WUR.
- PhD candidates with a scholarship or self-funded, e.g. guest PhD's or Sandwich PhD's.
- The problems you face must be linked to the corona crisis.
NOT eligible are:
- Prospective students who are not yet enrolled.
- PhD students who are funded by WUR, e.g. research assistants, staff PhD's and also external PhD's. This group can contact their supervisor for assistance within the policies that have been established.
- Applications for tuition fees for non-EU students. In this case, please contact your study advisor.
Criteria
- Applicants must have no other options for funding.
- The support of the fund is limited to the cost of living, including housing.
- The maximum amount of support per student is 5.000 euros.
- The support should last for a limited period of time.
- The application should be supported by documents that support your story and a financial plan. Please check which financial documents are needed in "step 2" below.
How to apply?
Step 1: Intake
To apply you have to arrange an intake with the designated contact person for the intake for your study programme, you can find the list of contact persons below. PhD students should contact the Executive Secretaries of their Graduate School, you can find the names and contact information below.
Fill in the application form (click the link) beforehand and send it to the contact person as an attachment when you request an intake so they can assess your situation.
Step 2: Fill in the application form
If they support your application you can send in the final application form. Please also send in the following supporting documents regarding your financial situation:
- Bank statement from the last month
- Rental contract
- Overview of the fixed income and expenses per month
- If applicable, proof of unemployment (student job) or correspondence regarding your unemployment
- Correspondence from scholarship provider if applicable
- Only for PhD candidates: the agreement with the chair group
The contact person for your study programme or Executive Secretary of the Graduate School will send the support e-mail for your case separately tot ufw@wur.nl. Please note that application forms without support e-mail will not be reviewed.
Step 3: Review and decision
Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. You will receive the decision made by the committee as soon as possible with a short motivation.
Applications will be processed once a week, so hand in your applications before Monday 9AM.

There is no option to appeal against the decision of the selection committee.
