Academic Writing 2: Writing Academic Documents (online course)

Are you in the process of writing a longer academic text? During the writing process, you may wonder how to clearly communicate your intended message to the reader, how to structure your texts, which style and word choice are suitable, how to ensure that your arguments are persuasive, etc. This online course will help you to answer these questions and optimise your writing skills.

The course will be provided entirely online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace.

Target group

Academic Writing 2 is aimed at Bachelor’s and Master’s students who want to further develop their writing skills and who need help with writing longer texts.

    Admission requirements

    Before you can enroll in the 'Academic Writing' courses, we first ask you to take a Online Oxford Placement Test (OOPT) and a writing assignment.

    For the Academic Writing 2 course you need a minimum OOPT-score of 50-70. You can request the OOPT by emailing us at

    What is an Online Oxford Placement Test?

    Writing assignment
    Please write a short essay of 250-300 words on a topic related to your field of study. Please send us the writing assignment within a week after registration via the form on the right side of this page.

    Our teachers will grade your assignment and advise you either Academic Writing 1, 2 or 3.

    Tips for the writing assignment

    Before sending in your text, read your draft and ask yourself the following questions:

    Number of meetings

    8 online classes each 1 hour and 45 minutes.

    To receive a Wageningen in'to Languages certificate, a minimum attendance of 80% is required. After completing Academic Writing 1, you can continue on to Academic Writing 2.
