Back home

I’m home again! Four days ago I flew back from Istanbul to Amsterdam which was six days earlier than everyone expected. My family picked me up from the airport and dropped me off at my boyfriend. It was a huge surprise for him and he was just flabbergasted.

So, being back is weird. I was very excited to go home and it still feels good. But moreover, it can be compared to waking up from a very long dream. Since home does not change much and so many things happened during my exchange it feels like you just lived in a completely different world for a while. What I notice being back is how much I appreciate the space we have in the Netherlands. And the streets are just so clean here. Istanbul wasn’t very dirty, but still there was lots of stuff laying around. In addition, everything is so structured here and has its purpose. I very much like both worlds and I expect to return to Istanbul in the future.

All in all, it has been a great adventure that I wouldn’t want to have missed. It’s great that opportunities like this exist and I would encourage everyone to go on an exchange if you have the chance.

Love,

Fleur
