Every last Saturday of the month the whole country does community work in the morning. And I really mean the whole country!!!! Even the president.
It's even part of the Rwandan constitution. And of course we joined in, in the village where we currently live. And we got some well earned blisters. :) At the moment, they're building a new classroom for the primary school. Which is not easy, because there are no flat areas and the whole space needs to be carved out of the hillside. It was amazing to see how everyone worked together to achieve this with the only available tools being hoes and shovels.
