Exchange student, Thesis and Internship
Hi everybody,
My name is Marlou. I am 24 years old and I follow the European Master in Food Studies specialisation within the MSc Food Technology. For this specialisation I will follow courses in different places in Europe. Also, my internship and thesis will be abroad. At this page you can read everything about my experiences. Introduction
Hallo, dia duit, bonjour and hej! The upcoming two years I’ll be travelling around Europe for the Master program called 'European Master in Food Studies' (a specialization that belongs to the Food Science and Technology Master).
University Building
Walking around UCC Campus feels like strolling through a Harry Potter movie. The main university building definitely looks like Hogwarts. As Irish people would say, it is ‘grant’!
Cliffs of Moher
Luckily, I have the weekend to explore beautiful Ireland and act as a crazy tourist. One of the first beauties to explore are the Cliffs of Moher. These are also amongst the top visited tourist sites in Ireland, so I was allowed to take photos all the time. ;)
The Irish Scone Culture
Great-Britain and Ireland are known for their brilliant scone culture. Therefore, I am trying as much scones as possible, for breakfast, lunch, as sweet pastry or even for dinner. Plain scones, fruit scones, berry scones, you name it. This week we went to a company visit (Musgrave in Cork) with the EMFS students and even there they served us scones during the coffee break. Made my day!
Board meeting & project presentation
Besides studying in four different countries, there is also another aspect, which is very important in the European Master in Food Studies. This is the development of an innovative food product together with 10 EMFS students. An important player in this is “The Board”, which is our sponsor for the team project and provides us with expertise and a budget in order to achieve our goal. Before we can start with our product, the Board needs to approve our proposal by a convincing presentation.
