Qian he - Sourcing department

The study at Wageningen taught me more of a mindset of continuous innovation and optimization.

I was in the Business Economic group. In the beginning it wasn’t very clear to me what the differences were between the different groups, but I was aiming to train myself as an entrepreneur.

Since you graduated, what kind of jobs did you have?

It took 6 months to find my first job due to corona and lack of experience. I ended up in the supply chain route. Now I work at Jacobs Douwe Egberts in the Coffee & Tea Sourcing department. Still in the supply chain field.

The study at Wageningen taught me more of a mindset of continuous innovation and optimization. Selected case studies gave me a preliminary understanding of the gap between theory and practice and where we might be able to make efforts. I still remember the course on beer stock order management and it vividly described the real problems we are currently encountering in our work.

What are your future goals?

I would like to continually contribute to supply chain field on the fact that logistics play an increasingly important role in the whole world. My goal would be optimising the supply chain model in a more sustainable way.

How was studying/living in Wageningen for you?

Wageningen is a small but international town. It provided me with a very quiet and pleasant place to focus on my study when I want to, like Forum. But it also gave me the opportunity to see different faces and hear different voices. I also love the campus facilities and all the activities. I’ve felt welcome.
