Free online courses for students and staff: edX Remote Access Program

Students and staff from the Wageningen University & Research can participate in the edX Remote Access Program. It provides access to courses and programs not just from the WUR, but from all edX partners participating in the initiative, supporting the ‘lifelong learning’ focus of the WUR. This means that you can follow the verified track of courses from HarvardX, MITx and other institutions for free.

Which courses are included in the program?

For the overview of courses, please check out the list of courses. Keep in mind that the availability of these courses depends on the course schedule offered by the associated institutions.

How do I sign up?

Applications are open till at least June 2022. You can sign up by sending an email with the subject “Application for Remote Access Program” to wageningen.x@wur.nl from your WUR email address. After you are registered you can enrol into the verified track of all the participating courses for free.

Can I earn credits for these courses?

It is not possible to earn ECTS by following courses in the Remote Access Program. However, you can still earn the edX certificate and we are working on possibilities to convert this to ECTS. Make sure to check this webpage on a regular basis for the latest information on this.

If you still want to join a online course and receive ECTS for it, have a look at the Virtual Exchange program.

Will the WUR cover the costs of the verified track of courses not included in this program?

No, the Wageningen University & Research will not cover costs of external courses that are not part of the Remote Access Program or Virtual Exchange program.
