There are no strict rules concerning the internship report. Of course, the report should include relevant information on the activities you have performed and if appropriate, on the research you have been involved in. The report should also include a critical reflection on your learning objectives. An internship report of 10-20 pages (exclusive possible annexes) might be appropriate and adequate. A more extensive report is allowed, but not strictly required (if an internship provider would like you to end up with a more substantial and detailed report; this should be specified in the contract and it might be included as part of the internship report). If the internship is performed abroad, the report should be written in a foreign language (usually in English, but sometimes in other languages). The internship report should be finished at the end of the agreed internship period, at the location and under the responsibility of the internship provider.
The internship assessment at the division of Human Nutrition is based on the Wageningen University & Research internship assessment procedure as prepared by the educational institute. A copy of the assessment form can be found through the internship main page.
The grading scale is: 1, 2 .. 6, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10.0.
Grade 9.0 is given for excellent work. Grades 9.5 or 10.0 are given to <<1% of the internships.
The final assessment is based on the following three items:
Professional skills (A) and Report Internship (B) and Self Reflection Internship (C)
Weights of each item are:
Parts A, B and C are set by the internship provider in consultation with the HNE supervisor
Part A assesses the practical performance of the student
Part B assesses the scientific performance and the written report
Part C involves a critical reflection of the student on the internship, learning objectives etcetera.
