Joanne van der Borg is a behavioural biologist, with special interest for dogs and the relation with their owners. After receiving her master degree in 1988 she conducted research at Utrecht University on characterizing dogs in animal shelters. Consequently, she worked at the Van Hall Institute for 12 years as lecturer in Ethology. Since 2003, she holds a part-time position lecturing on dog behaviour and supervising thesis students in Animal Sciences and Biology on dog/cat research. Her main focus is on development of behaviour tests to characterize dogs for personality traits. She combines her scientific work with practical experience in dog training and behavioural therapy. Since 1995, Joanne van der Borg also holds her own company DogVision, providing courses on dog behavioural therapy and behavioural testing.
