Tinka Murk about more biodiversity in the North Sea
In the radio programme BNR Hemmen, presentor Roelof Hemmen interviews professor Marine Animal Ecology Tinka Murk for the column Van goed naar beter. "For all our activities at sea, such as sand and gas extraction, wind energy, fisheries and shipping, there actually is not enough space."
Her advice: Address the issue in a smart way by combining for example sand extraction with cathing flatfish in alternate years (flatfish fields) or the combination of wind farm and crab/ lobster fishing. This way, the North Sea is used more optimally and biodiversity is strengthened. Starting with smart pilots as soon as possible will allow results to be achieved within a few years.
