In this article, just released by the journal Annals of Tourism Research, ENP colleagues Machiel Lamers and Gert Spaargaren together with Rene van der Duim from Cultural Geography connect the growing popularity of practice theories to their current use and potential for tourism studies.

The article presents the main concepts and premises of practice theories, illustrated with the case of Arctic expedition cruising, and with material from the SEES expedition to Edgeoya, Svalbard, in August 2015. It discusses the merits of practice theories by comparing to performativity approaches and actor-network theory approaches in tourism studies.
