InnoSpace Journey Summer School

We are pleased to announce that Wageningen University will be one of the locations of Europe’s largest summer school on innovation and entrepreneurship which is taking place again this summer!

Organised by Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing
Date

Sun 24 June 2018 until Sat 28 July 2018

Climate-KIC will host 11 Journeys around Europe, and Wageningen will be one of the locations for the ‘InnoSpace Journey’ which is co-developed with Copernicus. This Journey will take place over 5 weeks: 24.06 – 28.07

The core objective of InnoSpace Journey is to ensure uptake and exploitation of Copernicus data, to address the challenges of climate change, as well as create awareness of both the availability and the potential applications of open Earth Observation (EO) data. The InnoSpace Journey will aim at fostering entrepreneurial thinking among students and future entrepreneurs deploying a learn-by-doing approach by:

  1. increasing awareness of downstream EO and Geographic Information Science (GIS) innovation opportunities;
  2. providing the skills and tools to translate ideas into end-user applications; and
  3. providing a protected testing-ground for entrepreneurial development in the field of climate change; and finally
  4. to develop a common inter-and trans disciplinary understanding of climate challenges and how they can be addressed using space data, Earth Observation and GIS.

Within the five weeks, the participants move across three different European locations with two coaches, and team-up to create compelling sustainable solutions to real-world climate related issues.

What is the Journey?

The Journey is a 3-week or 5-week climate innovation summer school. It brings together students and professionals from all over the world.

The Journey provides the tools to make an impact on the global effort to find solutions to climate change, and supports participants in the quest to become an sustainable entrepreneur.

The Journey summer school offers climate change knowledge combined with entrepreneurship skills, allowing participants to create - together with people from a wide range of backgrounds - a business model which will help our environment.
