Regulation of protein movement and tissue patterning

  • The Bird protein family interacts with SHR and SCR and Bird genes are regulated by SHORTROOT and SCARECROW transcriptional regulators. In a Systems Biology approach, we investigate how this tangled network leads to the precise patterning of asymmetic cell division.
  • Protein movement and interaction can be inferred from biochemical and genetic experiments, but the true challenge is to visualize these processes in a living cell. In a network of collaborations we are optimizing methods to allow dynamic analysis of protein interactions during pattern formation in plants.
