RIKILT conducts toxicological research into the safety and effects of (agricultural) additives, (environmental) contaminants and banned growth promoters present in the food chain. The potentially toxic effects of new foodstuffs – including genetically modified organisms – are also studied.

Bioassay development

RIKILT develops bioassays for screening potentially toxic substances. This includes natural toxins in food production chains and substances with specific biological activities, such as growth accelerants.
