Residues in the food chain and the environment

RIKILT is able to detect the presence of residues of animal feed, growth accelerants, natural toxins, pesticides and contaminants in the food chain. We can also take environmental samples if necessary. Our lab is equipped to conduct investigations for illegal or unlawful use of different substances and we have all the facilities available for analysis of samples in line with regular enforcement procedures.

Applied techniques

Most of the methods used are based on analytical-chemical techniques with an emphasis on LC and GC (xGC) in combination with various MS techniques. Rapid screening methods based on microbiological and/or immunochemical techniques are also used. Visit our method development page for a complete overview of our analytical expertise.

In addition to standardised analyses, RIKILT also develops and validates new analysis techniques. A validated analysis technique meets strict quality standards and guarantees correctness of the results.
