In a challenging career trajectory you are, as Assistant Professor in the field of Dynamic Modelling in Systems & Synthetic Biology responsible for the organization, implementation and coordination of new research and teaching activities in this field, as well as building up a leading international position. In this position you will also be motivating and teaching students and develop new courses. Training and coaching is provided for the Assistant Professor to accomplish all this.
You will be part of the Laboratory of Systems and Synthetic Biology and embedded in the Wageningen Centre for Systems & Synthetic Biology. As all the other scientific staff members, you are expected to attract funding and to participate in the teaching and supportive activities of the Laboratory

As Assistant Professor you are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist and a team player, devoted to research and education in Systems & Synthetic Biology.
You also have:
• proficiency with constraint-based modeling and mathematical modelling of dynamic systems and experimental design;
• a sound knowledge of physiology, biochemistry and Systems and Synthetic Biology;
• computational competences in Python, Matlab and/or R;
• experience in interacting with experimentalists;
• a solid background in Mathematics and/or Physics;
• a PhD in Computational, Systems, Mathematical Biology or related fields;
• fluent in English, both written and spoken;
• the candidate will collaborate in a team with scientists at the chair of Systems and Synthetic Biology and with members of EU and NWO projects.
We offer you a temporary contract for 38 hours per week, which can lead to a permanent employment contract.
For the position of Assistant Professor, we offer a gross salary of € 3545,- to € 5513,- per month, depending on expertise and experience (scale 11 - 12 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities), including 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end of year remuneration.
