Artwork seeks WUR spot!
Who knows a bare spot on a wall or an empty corner in a building where a nice work of art would not be out of place? In the coming month, some twenty artworks will be displayed in Impulse that deserve a new home in one of the campus buildings.
We’ve selected various artworks that are currently in storage, including paintings, drawings and prints. If you’d like a work of art and know a suitable spot, or just know a spot, then contact WUR Library. We’ll then look at the spot with the location manager to see if an artwork can be hung there.
Over the past 100 years, Wageningen University & Research has collected and received quite a bit of art. Last year the Executive Board asked WUR Library to manage the art and academic heritage collections.
Many sculptures on the campus were restored last year. The maintenance of the art collection inside the buildings will start in the coming period. Much of this art work comes from previous buildings of WUR and has already found a new home in the buildings on campus. Nevertheless, quite a few pieces have also ended up in storage, especially art that was made in during ‘Contraprestatieregeling’ (1949-1956) and the ‘Beeldende Kunstregeling’ (BKR, 1956-1987).
The artworks will be exhibited in Impulse (building 115) from 15 October to 23 November 2018.
