WUR Library in Corona times: regular updates

Update 14 January. The extended national lockdown means that students are asked to study at home as much as possible in the coming weeks. At least until 9 February 2021 Forum Library is only open for students who have no alternative study place. Reservation is required. Please read the update below for more information.

Update 14 January

Working from home and studying from home is the norm. Students who cannot study at home, are requested to reserve a study place on campus via TimeEdit.

The Leeuwenborch Library is closed. WUR Library will not have extended opening hours during the next exam week. The Library's digital collection is available and our services are continuing online as much as possible.

Update 15 December

Following the latest national corona measures students are asked to study at home as much as possible. For students who have no alternative study place, Forum Library will remain open in the coming weeks. Please reserve your study spot via TimeEdit.

Online document delivery only

Until 5 January 2021 our document delivery services are limited to items available online only. Requests from the physical collections are suspended. This means that you cannot request books or copies of book chapters from the WUR collection or from other libraries by interlibrary loan. Please keep in mind that processing your document request may take longer than usual and some items may be unavailable.

Borrowing

When visiting in person, you can still borrow books that are available on the open shelves in Forum Library. Until 5 January 2021, you cannot borrow books from the closed stacks or Leeuwenborch Library.

Update 15 October

As of 15 October face masks are mandatory in all WUR buildings. When you are going to study at the Forum Library, wear a non-medical mask any time you move through the Forum building and the Library. You can take off your mask once you are seated. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Update 9 October

WUR has expanded the number of study places in Forum, Orion and the Leeuwenborch. Due to the current social distance requirements, the number of study spots on campus is still limited. Therefore, it's necessary to make a reservation for the study spaces, including for those in the Forum Library. This ensures you'll have a working spot before coming to campus. Update 6 October

Following the national corona guidelines, the number of available study places in Forum Library is limited. Students are asked to study at home as much as possible. For those who have no alternative study place, Forum Library has longer opening hours from 12 until 22 October. Keep an eye on this website to see any changes to our corona policy.

Update 27 July

All existing loans were originally extended to 15 August 2020 and have now been extended to 22 September 2020. Please return your Library books before that date. Forum Library is open on week days from 8 am until 6 pm for WUR staff and students. There is also a drop box available in front of the Library entrance where you can return your books when the Library is closed.

Update 22 June

From Monday 22 June Forum Library is open from Monday until Friday from 8 am until 6 pm for WUR staff and students. However, space is limited because of social distancing requirements.

The Special Collections reading room is open by appointment only. The Leeuwenborch Library is closed until further notice. Unfortunately, we can’t welcome external visitors to the Library and Special Collections until further notice. This is in keeping with the WUR's corona policy. More info on this website

Update 20 May

The Forum and Leeuwenborch libraries will remain closed for studying until further notice. We're making preparations to ensure a safe learning and working environment for everyone, so we can safely reopen our locations. Students and staff can borrow and return books at the Pick Up & Go desk in Forum Library, Mon - Fri 10:00 am till 12:00 noon. More info on this webpage.

Limited services at the Pick Up & Go Desk in Forum Library

Forum Library closed until further notice

In order to further reduce any risk of spreading the corona virus Forum Library is closed as of Wednesday 25 March 2020 until further notice.

If you need any books or other materials from WUR Library, you can order them via the LiveChat on the website, e-mail or Document Delivery. A Pick up & Go desk is available in Forum Library on working days from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon for borrowing and returning of books. You may also return books by regular mail, send to: WUR Library, P.O. Box 9100, 6700HA, Wageningen.

The Library's digital collection is of course available and our services are continuing online as much as possible.

Update 20 March

Inter Library Book Loan Services suspended

Many libraries in the Netherlands as well as world-wide have been closed temporarily. To our regret it is no longer possible to borrow books from other libraries. You can still request articles and book chapters from other libraries. And of course you can still request & borrow books from WUR Library. Please keep in mind that processing your request may take longer than usual and some items may be unavailable.

Due to new corona measures Forum Library has limited opening hours as of Thursday 19 March until 6 April. Leeuwenborch Library and Special Collections are closed.

Please take notice that during the weekends you can only access the Forum building and the Library with a WURcard.

How to renew books?

How to return books?

Books may be returned by:

  • internal mail, send to: courier number 39 (WUR staff only)

Update 13 March

  • Leeuwenborch Library and Special Collections will be closed as of 14 March until further notice.
  • At Forum Library we have reduced the number of study places to a maximum of 100 seats per floor, summing up to a maximum of 300 seats. Seats have already been put aside, please do no place them back.
  • Visitors showing clear signs of Nasal congestion or Coughing will be asked by Library staff to conform to the general Corona guidelines and leave the building.
