Wageningen University & Research has always been interested in and committed to the visual arts. Many of the artworks on Campus relate to one or more of the domains of WUR. A number of the art objects can be seen in an online exhibition or in the WUR Image Collections. We hope you'll enjoy your online walk on Wageningen Campus.

Reclining figure by Cor van Kralingen (1963)

From Monday October 17th, a work of art will be placed next to the main entrance of Zodiac. It is a facade panel by George van der Wagt that has stood in Lelystad for years (see photo). The panel is planned to be placed on a pedestal to the right of the main entrance on Monday October 17th. The main entrance is closed this day and also the road De Elst is closed in both directions. On Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th of October, if all goes well, only finishing work will take place. The facade panel consists of 68 parts of different types of stone, including white marble and basalt. It was made around 1969 for the Centrum voor Onderzoek en Voorlichting Spelderholt in Beekbergen. In 1995 it was relocated to a building at Edelhertweg 15 in Lelystad, where it was until 2021, when the building in Lelystad was demolished. George van der Wagt (1921-2007) was a Dutch artist and later also a painter. He has, among other things, made the Airborne Monument in Oosterbeek and 'Ballerina' on the Nieuwegracht in Purmerend. He also assisted John Raedecker in carrying out the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam. The artist is not unknown in Wageningen either. On the lawn along the Binnenhaven, in front of the Vakschool Wageningen, there is also a work by George van der Wagt from 1970.
