New image collection: Storage and packing of food and flowers

The most recently published collection in Wageningen University & Research – Image Collections holds 823 photos taken by ir. Eelke Westra (Food & Biobased Research) on the storage, packing, and transport of food products and flowers. The photos were taken from 2002 to 2015 in countries around the world.

The new collection records several techniques of cultivation (mainly flowers), storage and packaging, and transport of food products and flowers by Eelke Westra.

Westra took the photos as part of his research from 2002 to 2015 in many different countries including Ecuador, Egypt, Thailand, Ukraine, Kazachstan, and the Netherlands. Westra is the Scientific Knowledge Leader Postharvest Technology at Food and Biobased Research and is an expert on quality preservation of food and flowers. He researches how fruit, meat and flowers can be preserved better and longer to avoid loss of quality. During his research travels he made numerous photos. A selection of these photos is being presented in the Image Collections.
