I was born in Lima Peru in 1990. After spending my chilhood in the Peruvian Amazon, I decided to study a BSc in biology, with specialization of ecology and conservation. After graduation, I worked in conservation projects in the Peruvian Amazon. Realizing that many of the activities threatening natural ecosystems were linked to food production, I moved to the Netherlands in 2016 to study a MSc in Organic Agriculture with specialization on Agroecology. During my MSc studies, I got interested in using a systems approach to quantiy the environmental impact of innovations in the food system. In 2018, I started my PhD research exploring the contribution of farmed insects reared on organic residual streams to a sustainable food system. My thesis 'Farmed insects for sustainable food systems' was defended in 2022 and awarded with the distinction cum laude. I currently work as a postdoctoral researcher exploring how to redesign food systems to safeguard human nutrition and planetary health.
