I work on the interplay between places, identities and power. My main motivation is to understand in what ways and in which contexts the places, spaces, urban forms, and landscapes are important in the stories people tell about who they are and in the power structures on all levels. My current research is devoted to the processes of place-making and identity-formation in contested spaces in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina. I have conducted projects on migration, mobility, and wellbeing in cities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia and Germany. The leading aim of all my projects is to understand how my research can contribute to improving the planning and policy-making at all scales. I hold a PhD in Urban Sociology from the Humboldt University Berlin.
