E (Elaine) Teixeira Rabello PhD

Postdoc Researcher

Elaine T Rabello is an associate professor at the Institute of Social Medicine / State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). She is involved in research projects and courses related to the medicalisation of society, social representations of science and health, STS, research networks, qualitative methodologies, internet studies, digital methods, and its applicability on health and bioethics affairs. She is also a collaborating researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) in projects aiming to promote the role of the social sciences on scientific cooperation in scenarios of uncertainty (like epidemics) and the dynamics of science practices around the world.
 
Now, at Wageningen University & Research / Public Administration and Policy group, Elaine does a postdoctoral research entitled Tracking facts, associations and public engagement on the web: contributions of imagery to digital tools, aiming to build and establish a digital method for mapping , analyzing and interacting with imagery content or health and food-related topics discussed on the Internet. This research is a part of the project Traveling of Framed Facts and Uncertainties (TOFU): a dashboard of imagination for innovations in food, packaging, energy, and health technologies, coordinated by Dr. Tamara Metze, and seeks to contribute to the discussion about new communication technologies, digital media, and social perceptions of food and health practices, technologies and risks.
